About Me

One of my New Year's Resolutions was to paint more often. Having two small children makes this quite a challenge, but I have been inspired by many of the Daily Painters I have seen, and felt drawn (no pun intended!) to join the movement. Fortunately, I have a wonderful husband who is very supportive. My goal is to create one small painting each day which I will post to this blog. I have always loved the arts, but only began painting a couple of years ago. I have been so fortunate to have had a wonderful mentor in Martin Ahrens. Martin and his wife Joyce Hall Ahrens are both incredible artists and instructors who emphasize the importance of light and shadows in making a painting come to life. I hope that you will enjoy my work. Please don't hesitate to comment, either positively or negatively. I hope to never stop learning and growing!

"Kiawah Marsh"

This painting was done at a workshop that Martin led at Kiawah Island, a beautiful barrier island southeast of Charleston, SC. We are so blessed here in the "Lowcountry" to have some amazing scenery. I really enjoyed doing this painting...I was about halfway up an observation tower and it was an incredibly windy day (my easel almost blew over twice!). I love the colors in it...they are very soothing to me. I painted another painting the same day and gave it to one of my very best friends, Renee. I will post a picture of that painting later. This painting is oil on 9"x12" canvas panel.
