Two friends have a small preschool called Kingswood Cubs in Mt. Pleasant, SC and are getting ready to host their second annual fundraiser. I painted this for their silent auction. I am really happy with the way that it turned out...I like the subtlety of the Sullivan's Island Lighthouse in the background. I thought it was a neat little coincidence that I chose to paint this scene, because the preschool is located at the King's Lighthouse Church (which I had forgotten when I began the painting)! A friend of mine and I have a saying, "That's not odd, it's God!" Okay, so we're a little goofy... Anyway, I am excited to be able to help out these two wonderful people and hope that this painting will help to bring them some extra funds! This painting is 11"x14" oil on stretched canvas, and will be framed in a gold plein air style frame.
About Me
- Beth Tavel
- One of my New Year's Resolutions was to paint more often. Having two small children makes this quite a challenge, but I have been inspired by many of the Daily Painters I have seen, and felt drawn (no pun intended!) to join the movement. Fortunately, I have a wonderful husband who is very supportive. My goal is to create one small painting each day which I will post to this blog. I have always loved the arts, but only began painting a couple of years ago. I have been so fortunate to have had a wonderful mentor in Martin Ahrens. Martin and his wife Joyce Hall Ahrens are both incredible artists and instructors who emphasize the importance of light and shadows in making a painting come to life. I hope that you will enjoy my work. Please don't hesitate to comment, either positively or negatively. I hope to never stop learning and growing!

Like this a lot, Beth. It's subtle and carries punch at the same time. Good use of neutrals.
