About Me

One of my New Year's Resolutions was to paint more often. Having two small children makes this quite a challenge, but I have been inspired by many of the Daily Painters I have seen, and felt drawn (no pun intended!) to join the movement. Fortunately, I have a wonderful husband who is very supportive. My goal is to create one small painting each day which I will post to this blog. I have always loved the arts, but only began painting a couple of years ago. I have been so fortunate to have had a wonderful mentor in Martin Ahrens. Martin and his wife Joyce Hall Ahrens are both incredible artists and instructors who emphasize the importance of light and shadows in making a painting come to life. I hope that you will enjoy my work. Please don't hesitate to comment, either positively or negatively. I hope to never stop learning and growing!

"Garlic Trio"

I love garlic - the way it smells, tastes, and looks! This is going to be part of dinner tonight, but I thought I'd better try to paint it first. It is amazing how many colors you can see in garlic if you are looking for them...and in most other things, for that matter. This painting is oil on 6"x8" canvas panel.

I have a small handmade pottery bowl where I keep my garlic that looks so similar to this painting! And I love the rustic nature of this painting; beautiful!
